Lowering the Tone Update
- Hits: 88
"Great News! We are rapidly moving forward with the 'Lowering the Tone' bell project and would like to share this news with you all.On Thursday August 3rd two new bells for St James' will be cast at Taylors' Bell Foundry in Loughborough. These have been donated by the families of, and in memory of, former ringers, Margaret Pratt and George Pluckrose.Although we would have liked to open this event up to a wider audience to witness this historical event, Taylors are having major building work done at The Foundry, so visitor numbers are low.Towards the end of August, 6 bells will be lowered from the Tower to 'lie in state' in the Church before being taken to Taylors' for major refurbishment and re-tuning. Everyone will be welcome to see these magnificent artefacts of village life: 4 of the bells have not left the tower since 1924 and the other 2 since 1948.We will also be sharing with you, ways in which you can make a donation to this project, to be recorded for posterity.

New Website development Update
- Hits: 357
Our current website is based on a platform called Joomla version 3, this version is now superceded by version 4. Unlike most version changes this is a complete redesign of the infrastructure. Whilst version 3 is currently still supported it is necessary to change to the new version. This in turn has given us an opportunity for a rebuild of our website.
This new site is currently in development whilst keeping the existing site up to date. The new version is available to view using the menu item on the side but please realise that the content is still being added.
Development of the new site has been ongoing, whilst it was hoped to transfer to it at the beginning of 2023, this has been delayed whilst different content was trialled. However it is now proposed to move to the new version within the next couple of weeks and by the end of April. Whilst the change over takes place there will be a short period of downtime
Click on the image below to take you to the new version.
Following the implementation of the new version there will be regular updates and changes to the layout. The Old site will still be available as an archive as not all content will be able to transferred.
